Game Overviews
Texas Hold'em, a fast-paced 7-card variation that's the most popular and
exciting form of poker played today. If you've ever watched poker on TV,
chances are that you've watched Texas Hold'em. And to show just how good
it is, it's the game played in the final of the World Series of Poker.
Omaha is played in a similar way to Texas Hold'em, except that 9 cards are
used, creating a wider range of possible combinations. This makes for a more
intricate game where you can't just rely on blind luck.
Omaha Hi-Lo is one of the most popular poker variations. Play in
Omaha-Hi/Lo goes through 4 sequential rounds of betting: pre-flop, on the
flop, the turn and the river. Hi/Lo games are played so that the pot is split
between the best high hand and the best low hand.
7-Card Stud is one of the easiest games to learn and is as popular in home
games as in professional poker rooms. This game requires an observant eye
and reliable memory. Since so many of the cards are exposed on the table,
you can make good choices about how likely it is that a winning hand is going
to appear for you
5-Card Stud is the original stud poker game. Its popularity was unsurpassed
until the invention of 7-Card Stud early in the Twentieth Century. It's much
the same as 7-Card Stud, except that each player receives 5 cards, only one
of which is dealt face down. It is still a very popular game, especially among
the purists at heart.

Rake Structure:
Every time a pot reaches pre-determined levels, a portion of that pot goes to
the house. This portion is known as the "Rake".
In a live casino, this is easy to see, as the dealer is the one who "rakes" the
pot, taking a few chips for the casino before sliding the rest of the pot to the
winner of that hand.
Online poker rooms make their money in the same fashion. Each and every
hand that generates a pot of around $5 or more (depending on the site) will
be raked. The lower the limit you play, the more this rake will affect your
bankroll.
Below are examples of raked pots
