Poker Games
Texas Hold’em
Texas Hold'em is a game for those who are quick at the draw. The game can
have anywhere from two to ten players and consists of four rounds of
betting. Each player is dealt two cards, which they use in conjunction with
the five communal cards; players then take any five cards to make up their
best hand. The objective is simple - finish with the best hand and win the pot!
Seven Card Stud
Seven Card Stud is the ideal game for the skilled poker player or the
ambitious beginner. The game is played in five rounds with anywhere from
two to eight players taking part. Players are each dealt seven cards - three
up, four down - in various rounds. The maximum bet is doubled after the third
round of play, which results in a large pot for the lucky winner. The winner is
the player with the best five card combination.
Omaha Poker
Omaha Poker is comparable to Texas Hold'em and Omaha Hi/Lo Poker. The
game can be played with two to ten players who attempt to create the best
five card combination from nine cards. The nine cards are composed of four
pocket cards and five community cards. Players are forced to use two pocket
cards and three community cards when making their hand. This mix of cards
results in especially strong combinations.
Five Card Stud
Five Card Stud is the original stud poker game and is played with two to
eight players. At the start of each hand, players are dealt two cards - one up,
one down. The betting begins and when completed, players receive another
card face up. This continues until players have five cards - four up, one down.
Players use all their cards to form a winning hand. As such, playing requires a
keen skill to judge the value of each hand.
One-On-One Poker
Most cash games may be played on a one-on-one basis, also known as
heads-up poker. One-on-one games vary slightly from their parent games,
and are often known for their wild hands that go down to the wire.
Tournaments
All game types can be played as Tournaments. Tournament games differ
than cash games. In a tournament you are playing to "be in the money."
Tournaments offer big cash prizes and buy-ins to even bigger land-based
tournaments. One advantage of a tournament is that for a low buy-in,
winners reap big prizes! As always, before you enter a tournament, be sure
you know the terms and conditions of the prizes at stake.
