Online Progressive Jackpots Shattering the myth, online
casinos offer jackpots rivaling even the largest
land-based competitors

Hitting a large progressive jackpot is perhaps the ultimate goal for a slot
player. To drop a few coins, give a quick pull of the handle and watch a life-
changing event unfurl before our eyes is the fantasy that perpetually drives
our play, coin after coin, dollar after dollar. Making matters worse, we’re
constantly regaled with stories of lucky players whose vacation in Vegas or
on the Jersey Shore suddenly and unexpectedly transformed into a gambling
fairy tale. And that’s part of the lure of progressive slots. Just knowing that
somewhere out there, someone is about to hit a jackpot feeds the seductive
dream that someday it might be you.

But to hit a major jackpot, you have to be in casino. And not some electronic,
ethereal, online casino either—a real casino. Because everyone knows that in
online casinos the “jackpots” only ever get to a few thousand dollars, right?
Wrong.

Despite the popular misconception, online casinos now offer jackpots that
rival even the largest of their land-based competitors. In April 2005, for
example, a lucky online slot player from Tennessee, Cari M., shattered the
previous online slot record of $1,031,279—set only months before—after
hitting a $1,853,850 jackpot while playing Gold Rally, an eight-line Wild West–
themed progressive slot. Cari—who had only been playing online since
January—won the historic jackpot at Scasino.com, one of the premier casinos
of the popular CasinoLasVegas Group.

“This [was] a truly astonishing event,” said Michelle Roberts of winajackpot.
com, the progressive jackpot portal/network of which Cari is a member. “Not
only [did] Cari’s win trump all previous jackpots on Winajackpot and any
other network, it only took a mere ten weeks for the Gold Rally jackpot to
accumulate to nearly two million dollars since the last wipeout win. This is
clearly a hit game.”

Roberts also noted that in addition to high-profile winnings such as this one,
Winajackpot.com routinely pays out hundreds of thousands of dollars to
dozens of other lucky winners playing a range of progressive games on the
network each month. “The significance of this win,” she added, “is the added
incentive it provides other jackpot hopefuls of more history-making
multimillion-dollar payouts.”

Of course Cari’s win is far from an isolated event. Recent months have found
a steadily growing number of progressive slot jackpots paid to online
gamblers. Several lucky players at the popular InterCasino (www.intercasino.
com) recently found themselves on the receiving end of enormous jackpots,
including one for $162,080.86 from a Rags to Riches machine and another
worth $1,067,836 courtesy of the Millionaires Club slot. And while slot
specialist Slotland (www.slotland.com) doesn’t typically offer million-dollar
prizes, it does boast ownership of the most frequently paid progressive
jackpots online, currently won on average every six weeks with an average
prize of over $100,000.

Belle Rock Gaming, whose portfolio includes of some of the biggest casinos in
the online industry, has also recently made headlines for a string of
enormous jackpot payouts made to members. The month of July alone saw
15 different progressive jackpot winners and a total of $335,140.23 paid to
players, with the lion’s share of over $170,000 paid courtesy of the group’s
flagship, River Belle Online Casino. The staff of the Belle Rock group is
currently anxiously awaiting their next big winner, expected to come courtesy
of the progressive slot King Cashalot, which has reached a massive
$882,700. The last time it was won at a Belle Rock Gaming casino was back in
March, with the $618,857.39 jackpot scooped by Debbie T., from California.
